The BT8 telephone interface provides the facility to use a Public Address System from the telephone. It acts as an interface between the two systems, giving everyone the opportunity to contact other staff or make general announcements - avoiding the need to make contacts via Reception.
The BT8 can be used both with telephones that have MF signalling and those that do not. For details of the signaling information, see Features.
The recorded message can be up to 55 seconds long. In live paging situations the call will be terminated after 2.5 minutes.
Note that the BT8 is not approved for direct connection into the BT network. Under general approval (NS/G/23/J/100003) it may be connected to a port of a PABX switch.
With MF Signalling
• Up to 8 zones can be selected (Use with the BT81RB Relay Unit for up to 8 zone selection)
• Live messages can be broadcast
• Messages can be recorded and then replayed (avoiding feedback if the telephone is being used next to a loudspeaker)
• All of these are selected on the telephone keypad
• An internal selector determines if the recorded message is played once or twice.
Without MF Signallig
• Only one single zone can be used
• Messages can be live or recorded - an internal selector determines which is broadcast.
