Infra Red Listening & Hearing Systems

An infrared listening system is one of the simplest, most secure methods of satisfying the requirements of the hearing impaired and the legeslation intended to protect them. IR listening systems provide audio amplication to loops, hearing aids or via a headset maintaining security without overspill.

Our infra-red systems, of varying output power, are designed for use in the home, at reception and counter areas, for committee and conference venues, in care homes, churches and other places of worship, schools, colleges and other educational establishments, halls, leisure centres and in larger complexes.

The IRT-45H System is a small room, infra-red, high band (2.3 / 2.8 MHz) transmitter, complete with power supply unit, rechargeable battery pack, lapel microphone, additional leads for connecting to external audio equipment and a wall-mount bracket. (With the supplied wall-mount bracket removed, the unit can be placed on any flat surface for portable use.)

The transmitter is designed for small rooms (up to about 45m2), where listeners will be within 10m of, and in line-of-sight of, the transmitter. The unit transmits on two frequencies - 2.3 MHz and 2.8MHz - which can give mono reception for assistive listening to hearing aid wearers and stereo or mono reception for users with normal hearing.

The transmitter is for use with suitable receiver modules to be purchased separately (such as the IRR-NL23 assistive listening neck loop receiver and the IRR-ST23 normal hearing stethoset receiver, both supplied by ADSworldwide).

The unit can charge 1 receiver module and up to 2 battery cells available from ADSworldwide. (A battery pack containing 1 battery cell and 1 dummy cell is included with the IRT-45H transmitter, and 1 battery cell is included with any receiver purchased.)
Battery cells are environmentally friendly, long-life, NiMh cells providing several hours of continuous use per 12-hour recharge. They are a purpose-built shape to fit the transmitters and receivers.

Please Note: Infra-red receivers operating in the low band (95kHz and 250kHz) can suffer from fluorescent lighting interference. In cases where high frequency fluorescent and/or incandescent lighting are used (this includes modern energy-saving lamps) the infra-red signal may become unusable. In these cases use the high frequency infra-red systems operating above 2MHz.
